Surround yourself in the beautiful gardens of the Alley Cat Cafe One of my favorite restaurants to visit when staying in the Venice area is the Alley Cat Café. This truly is a gem right in the heart of Sarasota, tucked away and surrounded by lovely gardens. It does not matter what seat I choose, inside or out, there is still a magical view of the enchanting gardens. There is a bohemian air to the ambiance as well as the unique menu selections like nothing I have ever tasted. Although there are amazing fish, poultry and meat dishes available, you may find Alley Cat Café listed as a good place for vegetarian food, as the chefs make sure to add plenty of menu items for more health concise and animal loving patrons throughout the Sarasota area. If you are looking for traditional or classic favorites, Alley Cat Café may not be the place for you, but if you are willing to drive new inventive dishes, this is a wonderful place that local Sarasota patrons continually return to visit.

The food and ambiance of Alley Cat Café is enticing, but by far the most enticing part about the restaurant is the constant excellent service and the fantastic prices. Regular patrons at Alley Cat claim that you get more than you bargain for with the creative and tasty meals that don’t run a hole in your pocket! While there are some menu items that would be suitable for small children, the intimate and quiet setting of Alley Cat Café seems more appropriate for a romantic evening or a night with close friends. Alley Cat Café is open Mon-Sat for lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and for dinner Mon-Thurs. 6pm-9pm and Fri-Sat from 6pm-10pm. If you arrive at Alley Cat Café during the weekends or on a busy summer weekday, you will most likely find a wonderfully peaceful accompaniment band or soloist playing some great jazz or blues music in the background.

To find Alley Cat Café from Venice, follow US-41 into Sarasota near the Sarasota Bay and Bayfront Drive. Just north of Bayfront Drive on 41 north, will be 4th St. on the right hand side. Turn right and proceed down approximately 5 blocks and Alley Cat Café will be located at 1558 4th Street.
